I Just Want To Fly Away

Oh boy, it has been quite a while since I last time flew anywhere further. I did visit Denmark a couple of years ago but the flying time was rather short and the weather was very cloudy. As was the case during my first trip to Budapest too. Sure the clouds look different when seen from above but after looking at them for two hours straight it tends to get dull.

On my second trip the weather was way much better and on my flight back to Finland I at last got a seat where the wing wasn't blocking the view. And oh boy did I get a nasty cramp on my neck for peering throught the small window for the duration of the two and a half hour or so flight.

But it was worth it. The view from the high above the ground is just absolutely stunning. I had all but forgotten the way the land looks from above until I kind of stumbled upon an exhibition of Yann Arthus-Bertrand in the Helsinki City Center last summer. His photographs are simpy amazing, check them out!

And back to the topic. The feeling of flying is quite exciting. The feeling of takeoff in your stomach, the hevier feeling of ascending and the lighter feeling of descending... And the view, the view. To be able to fly is reason enough to fly. Not to mention that able to travel thousands of kilometers in only matter of hours is much more nicer than having to travel by car or train.

Luckily for me I'll be flying back to Budapest again in a little over week. Hope the weather favors my trip! Posted by Picasa

Let me out of here!

Have you ever felt like a captive for some reason or another? Ever wanted to go somewhere but couldn't? If you have then you most certainly can relate to this little poochie here.

We, my wife and I, were walking down a street on the bank of Danube and heard barking out of somewhere. We kept looking around to locate this dog but all I could see was this german shepherd and he wasn't barking at the moment (although his barking did sound somehow muffled). And the barking didn't sound like barking of a big dog but rather a small dog.

Then my wife spotted a little head peeking out of the balkony one floor above the street level and there was our little barker! And he most certainly looked like he would've wanted to go somewhere. And he was propably telling it too.

I myself am being held somewhat captive by my tired legs. We walk a lot and that does take its toll on my feet that a quite easily tired. All I can do now is to rest and gather the strenght to be able to walk with her again after she gets off of work. Even though it would be so very nice to be out right now. Beatiful and warm summerday, sights for sore eye, maybe a nice cool beverage at some café...

All alone

Sometimes, most of the time for me, it is the little things that you take notice. Sometime this is good sometimes it is bad. It is bad when you focus on the small details and miss the whole big picture. It is good when you spot out interesting little things. Like this little fella here. Left all alone in the middle of Helsinki everybody just passing by.

I did pass him by too but I just had to stop and take out my camera. You see, it reminded me of the people that are all alone out there even though they are surrounded by all those people. Some of them might be those less fortunate homeless people but surprisingly many are successful people on the fast lane of life. Or at least just ordinary everyday people like you and me.

After this I have started to greet people while I am taking a walk. Not on the citystreet that would, regretfully, be quite insade job with all those people passing by all the time. But in the park near here. And what did I find out? Elderly people were mostly pleased to be greeted as were young mothers but the younger people? Oh did I get angry, under the brows looks from them. And they did seem to be the majority.

Oh what is it with the people these days? Posted by Picasa
